As a member of the expedition sent from the Kingdom of Valydions, you are opposed by the antagonistic Zarosh Clan. Out of desperation the Zarosh Clan has found an ancient entity and released it from its eternal prison. Now you must protect the kingdom and the world from certain peril.
Ya'Fjora is the northern-most continent of Karidon. Many tribes, clans, and kingdoms have risen and fallen during its long history; and many secrets of Karidon now lie hidden. Thousands of years ago, Ya’Fjora was inhabited by the Mystic Elves. They vanished, Their ancient cities have been reclaimed by nature, and their secrets lost to the sands of time.
The Kingdom of Valydions and the Zarosh Clan fought a long, bloody war for dominance of the continent. After years of conflict, the Valydions claimed a decisive victory and forced the Zarosh Clan into the Arylind Tundra in exile.
Through disgrace and misfortune, a young orc chieftain named Kengut discovered an ancient crystal amulet of mystic origin. Guided by its voice, he was led to a primordial entity, long sealed away for eternity. As darkness once again engulfs the land of Ya'Fjora, you are sent to investigate the strange new power rising within the Zarosh Clan.

After a humiliating and decisive defeat at the hands of the Valydions, the Zarosh Clan has been exiled to the Aryland Tundra. The Clan unsuccessfully tried to undermine the Kingdom from the shadows, but the noble king had strong and loyal allies.
Desperate to reclaim the lost honor of the Zarosh Clan, Kengut, chieftain of the clan, turned to legends of an ancient evil hoping to secure the power he needed to defeat the Kingdom.

The Steps of Yjorn is the south-eastern region of the Arylind Tundra. Trek into the desolate ruins of the Mystic Elves' fallen empire within the exiled lands of the Arylind Tundra. Face the aftermath of their greed and the might of the Zarosh scavengers roaming their lands.

The initial Warrior class will be available for playing in the Demo with access to the Storm Herald Specialization.

One boss will be available in the Demo version.
Quests are divided between Primary Quests that progress the story and Secondary Quests.
Items and Gear will be limited in the Demo, but will be obtainable as quest rewards or from slain enemies.

Demo Game Play
In Varadia: Curse of Ya'Fjora there are 2 base Classes to choose from (Warrior & Marksman). Each one containing 3 different Specialization Branches. Specializations enhance your ability to engage in fierce combat, withstand incredible damage, deal devastating magic from afar, or heal companions that require aid.
Only two classes are planned for the standard game. The Warrior and the Marksman. Additional classes will be added if the required stretch goals are met during the Kickstarter campaign.

Each class will be able to choose one of three branches from their Specialization Tree. The initiation slot of each specialization branch will begin with its designated mastery.
A Mastery is an ability that signifies the player has deeply attuned to a certain specialization, reflecting the greater aspects of it's specialization tree. After a Mastery is unlocked the corresponding mastery hotkey will be available for use. Masteries come in many forms, ranging from active actions, passive buffs, persistent auras or toggled effects.
The designs here will be subject to change with balancing.
As you gain more levels and progress in your Specialization Branch, you can customize your Mastery to suit your needs. The final slot in your Specialization branch will make your Mastery more permanent and powerful.

Unlock more powerful abilities as your character’s level increases and customize them to dominate the battlefield. Your champion's action bar will have 4 Main Abilities, a Mastery Ability, a Basic Ability, a Weapon Ability and a Mobility Ability. Each ability will cost a different amount of resource.
As you gain experience and fill in your Specialization Branch you will be able to choose between a variety of Main, Basic and Weapon abilities.
Gain Talent points by increasing the level of your character or by finding Aurashards throughout Ya'Fjora and apply them to a Specialization Tree to be the most effective in the heat of battle. You can unlock many new abilities, skill increments and much more through the Talent Tree to build your perfect Champion!
You can find dungeons by exploring the world or embark on quests that will lead you to them.

Search, find and complete dungeons to find secret items, earn titles, acquire loot and more.
The battles in this world are not just those of brawn and might. While exploring the lands of Ya'Fjora you will encounter mysterious locks, deadly traps, and thought-provoking puzzles to overcome. Completing these encounters will unlock new or secret areas, reveal valuable items, or even grant you powerful boons.
Collect a variety of items and loot as you conquer your way through Ya'Fjora and Karidon. Obtain more powerful items by completing quests, slaying enemies and equip them to your champion to take on greater challenges.
There will be 5 tiers of items. Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic and Legendary
Choose a weapon with unique features and progress it towards a Legendary Weapon.
As you slay foes and complete challenges the Weapon you have equipped will gain experience as well. Any weapon you own can be upgraded through this process, even as far as making it a Legendary Weapon. Going from Common to Uncommon, Uncommon to Rare, Rare to Epic, and finally Epic to Legendary.
Though be warned, the process to turn an Epic weapon into a Legendary weapon will be arduous. Even after managing to complete the tasks required, simply making the weapon Legendary is not the end of it's journey. Doing so unlocks special quests, challenges, dungeons and more!
Legendary weapons have special Ascension levels that grant them power beyond its base form, unlocking unique passives as you continue to increase its levels. Each ascension level lets you choose one of three powerful augments, allowing you to shape your weapon to match your preferred playstyle.
During your adventures you will find or craft equipment pieces that have special slots known as Geo Slots. To fill in these slots you will have to explore the world, kill enemies, and gather from various locations to acquire Geostones. These stones can then be used to enhance your weapons and armor that have Geo slots, increasing certain attributes when the item is worn.
Choose one of three professions (Mining, Herbalist, Leatherworker) and as you adventure through the exotic lands Ya'Fjora, find the right materials to craft Equipment, Potions, Exiles and other items that will aid you in your journey. As you use your profession, its level will increase, and you will gain accesses to create more powerful items.
Begin your journey on Ya'Fjora and your adventures will take you to various regions. Unlock Act(s), explore and conquer these lands in a semi-open world setting.

The planet Karidon is host to a plethora of broken continents, scars of a battle long forgotten. Though massive in scale, this singular planet is but a pebble within the Infinite Void where countless other pebbles reside.

We’re excited about the idea of multiplayer and would love to bring it to life, but it’s a huge technical leap for us. It is on the roadmap as a stretch goal, but it’s not something we can guarantee at launch. Reaching that milestone would give us the backing to pursue it with everything we’ve got. So wish us luck!
